Sudlows Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week 2020
Today is the first day of National Apprenticeship Week. To mark the occasion we decided to have a chat with Sudlows’ HR Advisor, Becky Bannister to find out more about why Sudlows supports Apprenticeship schemes and the benefits that hiring Apprentices delivers to our business.
“Sudlows has currently placed several Apprentices within the business, in a variety of roles. We have found using Apprenticeship schemes to be great way to provide workplace experience for those just starting out in their career, as well as good experience for our management colleagues to train and develop new members of the team.
“We have found that Apprentices bring new ideas to the business and provide us with fresh opportunities for succession planning. We have trained our Apprentices on our systems and procedures, this has allowed them to experience first-hand a busy, productive working environment whilst simultaneously learning new skills and gaining industry knowledge. They have a desire to learn and to further themselves within the business which is great to see, and we continue to support them with both their personal and professional development.
“Having an Apprentice placed within the team brings a fresh, positive outlook to the workplace, along with new concepts and ideas. We have found that Apprentices contribute to different ways of using technology and they have a hunger to learn more about the business and, in particular, about the role they have chosen to do. By integrating the Apprentice within an established team, they not only learn how to do their job role, but also learn key life skills such as teamwork, negotiation and a great work ethic.”
